Clean water, air, and soil are fundamental components of a healthy environment and essential for the survival of all living organisms. Water is crucial for drinking, agriculture, and industrial use, while clean air is necessary for respiration and overall health. Soil provides nutrients for plants and supports ecosystems and food production. However, human activities such as industrialization, deforestation, improper waste disposal, and excessive use of chemicals have led to pollution of these vital resources, threatening both the environment and human health. Protecting and managing clean water, air, and soil is therefore critical for sustainable development, ecological balance, and the well-being of current and future generations.

Frequency: Bi-annual

Aims & Scope

Journal CleanWAS, the official journal of the International Water, Air & Soil Conservation Society (INWASCON), is an open-access publication established to feature high-quality articles selected from the annual International Conference on Clean Water, Air & Soil (CleanWAS), which has been organized since 2010 with the joint support of Malaysian and Chinese universities. Its primary aim is to provide academics and practitioners across interdisciplinary fields of Environmental Sciences with a platform to publish their research in dedicated online issues. By offering this opportunity, Journal CleanWAS encourages contributors and experts to introduce innovative techniques and perspectives that support a cleaner environment.

The journal emphasizes core environmental science disciplines such as biodiversity, bioremediation, climate change, ecosystems, ecotoxicity, energy management, environmental health issues, environmental monitoring, hydrology and water resources, oceanography and marine sciences, recycling, renewables, soil studies, sustainability, waste management, and water and wastewater management.

The scope of the journal covers a wide range of core and emerging disciplines, with emphasis on:

  • Biodiversity and Ecosystems: conservation, ecosystem services, and ecological resilience
  • Bioremediation and Ecotoxicity: innovative biological and chemical approaches for pollution control and toxicity assessment
  • Climate Change: adaptation, mitigation, impacts on natural systems, and policy frameworks
  • Environmental Health and Monitoring: assessment of human and ecological health risks, monitoring technologies, and exposure studies
  • Energy Management and Renewables: sustainable energy systems, resource efficiency, and low-carbon technologies
  • Hydrology and Water Resources: water cycle studies, groundwater and surface water management, and integrated watershed management
  • Water and Wastewater Management: treatment technologies, reuse strategies, and contaminant removal
  • Soil Science and Sustainability: soil pollution, fertility, and sustainable land-use practices
  • Oceanography and Marine Sciences: marine ecosystems, coastal management, and ocean pollution
  • Recycling and Waste Management: solid waste treatment, resource recovery, and circular economy approaches

Through this broad yet focused scope, Journal CleanWAS aims to bridge the gap between research, practice, and policy, encouraging interdisciplinary studies that address global environmental challenges and support sustainable development.
