This research determined the geotechnical properties of soils along British American area, Jos, Northcentral Nigeria, by analyzing five soil samples collected at 1.5 m depth, revealing moisture content (10.7–21.2%), specific gravity (2.65–3.10), liquid limit (35.24–38.5%), plastic limit (15.76–24.07%), plasticity index (11.17–20.24%), linear shrinkage (6.69–7.54%), and classification as CL-group soils, with medium expansion (35–50%), marginal severity zones, and soil types categorized into sand, silty sand, silt clay (plasticity index 7–17%), and clay (>17%).
